Publicly club Real Madrid's German midfielder Sami Khedira will be sidelined for two weeks or three weeks after the injury during the match which ended in a draw (1-1) with Lyon in the Champions League football.
Real Madrid said on its website that a scan showed Khedira injured a thigh muscle.
Khedira may miss the match for Lyon in the return leg on 16 March next.
Prior to that Real will play four games in the league against Deportivo La Coruna and Malaga, Racing Santander and Hercules.
The Khedira joined Real from Stuttgart at the end of last season.
