Barcelona, the club announced via its website on Tuesday evening that French international defender Eric Abidal will undergo surgery to remove a cancerous tumor in his liver on Friday.
Abidal, 31-year-old was moved to Barcelona in the 2007-2008 season coming from Lyon, one of the pillars of the French team defense played as so far 52 caps and participated in the World Cup finals in Germany 2006 and South Africa 2010.
